Frequently asked questions
Are sessions online?
Yes, sessions are online. It is very simple and straightforward. I simply email you a link, and we take it from there.
Do you offer tuition to home-schooled students?
Yes, I do offer tuition to home-schooled students, and if this is the case I will sometimes teach the student during school hours (rather than after school) and can offer in person rather than online tuition if the student and/or parent prefers this.
Once I have emailed you, what happens next?
Once you have emailed me with an enquiry, I will reply and we can exchange phone numbers and discuss what suits you best and what is available.
How much does it cost?
It costs £200 per month for a weekly session, which includes homework marking. I also offer Exam Booster blocks (£350 for 6 weeks) which include mock exam feedback and WhatsApp/email support. Students pay in advance at the start of each block.
Do cancellations have to be paid for?
Yes, I'm afraid all cancellations do have to be paid for, the reason being that if a student cancels their session, this is a space which could have been filled by another student.
What happens if the tutor gets sick?
In the unlikely event that the tutor has to cancel last minute, then of course your session will be carried over so that you don't end up paying for a lesson that the tutor might have cancelled.
How long are the lessons?
Lessons are 55 minutes long, just short of an hour.
How flexible are your lessons?
The lessons are very flexible. I always try to meet the student's needs, and it doesn't matter what text they are studying, I will have the resources and will be able to help them understand it. It is often helpful to know beforehand what the student would prefer to work on in the lesson, whether close reading, help with essay writing skills, or textual analysis just so that I can be prepared.

Does it matter how far away you live?
Not at all. I teach students from all over Scotland. As long as we are both looking at the Scottish Curriculum, and we are online, then location does not matter.
